The Core mandate of the division is coordinate all Income Generating Activities (IGAs) in the College that are non teaching with the sole purpose of generating and  increasing income. This is a very new division in the College which is in its second year since it was established.

The objectives of the division are as listed below;

  • Coordinate the use of the College farm, Milk processing plant, Cafeteria, Tissue culture laboratory and College Hospitality facilities to generate revenue for the College.
  • Initiate and coordinate the development and implementation of the College farm and Milk Processing plant business plans and work plans.
  • Coordinate the operations of the College Health care facility to ensure quality services to students and staff.
  • Plan and Oversee new marketing initiatives to sustain and expand the market for College farm and Milk processing plant products.
  • Coordinate the implementation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and other business re-engineering process initiatives in the College.

The Division comprises majorly of three departments for effective functioning namely

  1. Processing plant
  2. Commercial farm
  3. Hospitality, Health and Catering departments.

The departments offers various products to our clients like pasteurized milk, yogurt, fermented milk (Mala), indigenous vegetables and other farm products. Clean tissue culture banana seedlings are also sold to the farmers. Bukura Agriculture Farm is one of the best in the region that attracts farmers and students from far for learning purposes. The farm has got some of the best equipment making it attractive for students from other institutions seek attachment and internship placements. The farm begun an in calf heifer sale programme to promote dairy production for the locals and other interested farmers from surrounding counties.  

The division has got 18 permanent staff spread in the three departments.

So far the following achievements have been realized in the division

  • Double the revenue from the processing plant to Kshs 8,494,325 from Kshs 3,905,815 in the previous year
  • Entered into an agreement with three regional supermarkets; Mama Watoto, Maisha Mart and FrankMatt Supermarkets for the sale of the milk products. The products are now in the shelves of two supermarkets
  • Acquired accreditation and certification with KEBS for our products
  • Started a cafeteria that provides services to our students, staff and even outsiders.
  • Production and sale of hay to neighboring counties.
  • Sale of high in calf heifers


Strategy and corporate services is a Division that provides strategic leadership in planning, resource mobilization, financial and human resource and administration management, and ICT services. It is charged with monitoring and evaluation of how strategies, procedures and policies are implemented college wide. To effectively deliver this mandate the division is divided into Four departments namely; 1) Finance and administration, 2) Human resources and Administration, 3) Strategy and Performance Management, and Information and communication Technology. This Departments as you may have guessed work behind the scenes to ensure Bukura Agricultural College delivers on its Core mandate of Training and Research.

The Division has a number of objectives which include:

  • Establish and maintain sound strategy and procedures in compliance with statutory regulations for Finance, Human Resources, ICT and Performance Management functions of the College.
  • Initiate and coordinate the development and implementation of the College Master plan and other corporate plans.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of BAC Strategic plans and Performance Contracts in accordance with the College vision and mission.
  • Coordinate staff recruitment, deployment, remuneration, performance appraisal and development processes.
  • Manage and coordinate utilization of College financial resources and other assets and services to support service delivery of the core functions of the College.
  • Enforce financial discipline through implementation of appropriate internal controls to ensure prudence in utilization of College resources.
  • Initiate and coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate ICT policies, procedures and strategies to enhance service delivery and guarantee data and information security.

Since the introduction of the division, it has ensured that BAC staff are a responsive, professional and flexible team, the streamlining of BAC systems making them effective to 

strategically support our business, the development of a sound corporate governance culture; and value for money in management of the college’s Finances.
